Guest Room Refresh | Part 2: Choosing the Best Wall Color

As mentioned in the previous post about this guest room refresh, the maple-stained wardrobe is a key element in determining the color palette for the space. Combined with the room's north-facing exposure and cooler natural light, it helps narrow the options for the best wall color.

My goal was to find a wall color that would highlight the wardrobe's subtle pink undertones while creating a feeling of comfort, elegance, and personality. Choosing the best wall color is one of the most important decisions in a room refresh because it influences every other decorating choice that follows.

After exploring a number of options, I narrowed the selection down to four colors.

Guest Room Color Options

Sandblast

Warm, inviting, elegant, and cozy. While beautiful, the mauve undertones appeared a little too strong in this room. It also felt slightly more contemporary than I envisioned for the space.

Southern Charm

A warm peachy beige with a classic, welcoming feel. In this room, however, the peach undertones were stronger than I wanted.

Vintage

Soft, understated, and elegant. Vintage combines subtle notes of peach, blush, and taupe, creating a warm and comforting backdrop. There is a softness to this color that immediately drew me in.

Palazzo Pink

A sophisticated color with peach and terracotta undertones. While beautiful, it felt more saturated and colorful than I wanted for this guest bedroom refresh.

The winner is Vintage.

This warm beige with subtle blush and peach undertones strikes just the right balance. It brings softness and comfort to a room with cool natural light while remaining elegant and understated.

Its warmth pairs beautifully with the maple tones of the wardrobe, helping to incorporate this existing piece into the overall design rather than allowing it to stand apart from it. Vintage also creates an inviting backdrop for the textiles, textures, artwork, and accessories that will be added as the room continues to take shape.
